Human Rights Foundation: Protecting Human Rights in the Americas
Mission

The Human Rights Foundation (HRF) is a nonprofit nonpartisan organization that promotes and protects human rights globally, with an expertise in the Americas. HRF unites people in the common cause of defending human rights and promoting liberal democracy. Our mission is to ensure that freedom is both preserved and promoted around the world.

We focus our work on the founding ideals of the human rights movement, those most purely represented in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (1976). We believe that all human beings are entitled to:

• Freedom of self-determination
• Freedom of speech and expression
• The right to worship in the manner of their choice
• Freedom of association
• The right to acquire and dispose of property
• The right to leave and enter their countries
• The right to equal treatment and due process under law
• The right to be able to participate in the government of their countries
• Freedom from arbitrary detainment or exile
• Freedom from slavery and torture
• Freedom from interference and coercion in matters of conscience
• Freedom from tyranny

We seek, in particular, to sustain the struggle for liberty in those areas where it is presently under threat. HRF does not support nor condone violence.
